2014 Superbowl Predictions

It appears our ship mates are much better at looking pretty on the Lido Deck than predicting football outcomes.

Last week we had a contest to see who could guess closest closest to the actual score of the 2014 Superbowl between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks.  To the winners, we’re sending a Ship Mate Cruise Cabin Door Decoration Sign.

It would be an understatement to say our ship mates thought Denver would take it. Here’s a breakdown of the 161 guesses that we received.

We took into account 161 predictions received on our Ship Mate Facebook Page.

Of those, we calculated that 76.6% thought Denver would win!  Not only did you think that Denver would win, but you thought they’d win by much more than Vegas was predicting.  Denver was supposed to win by 1 point account to the bookies.  You thought they’d win by 5x that!

It was tough to find a Superbowl prediction that heavily favored Seattle, but we did have one.  Justina L guessed so much better than the herd, that we’re sending her a little gift in the mail.  She missed by 8 total points, which is very respectable given the unpredicted blowout.

And, for fun, we’re also sending a gift to the absolute WORST guess that we saw.  Ronn D thought the Broncos were going to crush the Seahawks and missed the mark by 66 points. He deserves a conciliation prize for that awful guess.
