Costa Allegra Fire

Cruise Ship Tragedy… again – Costa AllegraFire

The Costa Allegra cruise ship is without power and adrift in the Indian Ocean after a its engine room caught fire early on Monday, February 27th, 2012.  Reports show that the fire was contained and nobody was injured, fortunately.  The ship was 200 miles southwest of the Seychelles when it issued a distress call.  The Allegra has just over 1,000 people on board, including crew, and is significantly smaller than the Costa Concordia that capsized last month killing at least 25 people.  An aircraft was sent to get a visual on the ship and two tugboats have been sent to tow the her in.  They will not reach the Allegra until tomorrow around noon.  As for now, the ship has no power but can still steer.  The full story can be found here.
